Repair information for flash memory card readers, which are adapters that read flash memory media including SD, MMC, and smart card readers, usually with a USB interface.

Metal thing in card reader bent out of shape. How to fix?!

My SanDisk MobileMate SD+ Memory Card Reader won't accept mini SDHCs anymore!

Peering into the slot reveals that one of the thin metal things that presumably come into contact with the SDHC's pins is bent severely out of shape, and prevents the card from going in.

My guess is that I'm either going to have to take it apart to fix it—or try to ply it back into shape using needles or something.

But what do you knowledgeable folks think??

not sure how deep that is, but I have a set of Hartman Forceps that I use in case I need to bend some pins back. They are a bit expensive (around $10) on ebay but are a valuable tool.

chiabuns, I would first try to bend the pins back. They do not tolerate a lot of back and forth movement, so be careful. That is definitely something I will try as soon as finals are over! Hopefully the pin isn't too mangled for me to manipulate back into shape. Thanks for the advice!

Good Luck with your card reader....and your finals :-)
