Processor Upgrade for Late 2017 Base Model

At present I have this configuration processor within my iMac

3.4GHz quad‑core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz)

so can I able to upgrade it to 4.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor?

If you check apple processor upgrade configuration then it not mention anything about the base model while mentioned about upgrade for 3.5 ghz and 3.8 ghz processor.

@siddharth3322 This iMac is compatible with the 7th gen Kaby Lake Core i7 4.2GHz

Have a look at this listing, it's the same iMac (A1419, EMC 3070) with a Core i7 7700K 4.2GHz CPU
It's always good to use everymac.com to look up information about Apple devices :)

You are limited to what Apple used as the systems firmware only offers the microcode for them.

@danj Absolutely! It's weird that the option isn't listed on the Apple site, because the 4.2GHz was an option for the mid 2017 iMac

It was the most premium of systems very few sold and only to the most demanding of customers!

Like still & video work, graphics artists and architecture designers, astronomers or chemists or medical doctors. And lastly, web site and DB designers.

@danj That makes sense, as that configuration would have been serious overkill of a normal user at that time. I only remember it being an option, but I didn't remember it was the over-the-top premium option.
