Headphone Jack producing distorted sound on Left

Hey all,

So I'm having a problem with my iPhone 4 headphone jack.

It's producing terrible static like noise in the left headphones or left speakers of my car.

The right side is fine.

I've checked with several other headphones to make sure it was indeed the jack.

I've attempted using a compressed air can, paper clip with double sided tape and have had no luck.

I purchased the headphone assembly kit here on ifixit, did the headphone jack replacement. And...

SAME PROBLEM.

Left side still had some kind of static problem.

I remember reading somewhere on here something about an audio chip on the logic board. Is this something that can be replaced? I don't see the part being sold here on ifixit.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

At this point I think I'll just use my old ipod touch, and hold out till the iphone 5 comes out.
