Keypad to circuit connection information

Hi:

The entry on iFixit for replacing the Voyager upper keypad is the only information I can find of its kind.

I imagine other electronics use similar construction. However, I 'm still having difficulty handling this correctly. There is a copper braided loop that connects the circuit board and the rubber keypad. I tried peeling the keypad off of the brad and it tore the conductor surface of the keypad.

Exactly how are these copper bands adhered to the keypad and the board? Is the method the same on the board side and the keypad side? Would heat help remove it without tearing? And finally, do I need some kind of conductive adhesive to properly re-attach the braid to the surface?

I suspect so, but finding a good product to use seems problematic, either very expensive and short-lived (dry up in the tube) or cheap and not recommended highly.

Thanks!
