Take out the batteries and the SD card. Install new batteries. Turn on. If screen shows up, go to MENU, find the wrench icon, click through it to "reset to default settings." Click on that, and turn off and on again. I recently had this problem with my Coolpix B500 and a terrific Nikon svc rep walked me thru it and it worked!
