Xbox One controller was introduced in 2016 with the launch of the Xbox One S and adds Bluetooth support for Windows 10/11. This controller fixes many of the design flaws found on the Model 1537/1697 controllers and is much more reliable. This controller has been replaced with the improved Model 1914 controller.

The colored buttons aren't working.

The colored buttons on my controller are not working. I've tried it with the console nothing's worked. I plan to open it up and take a look soon, but does anybody know what to expect?

Hi

Once opened up keep a eye out for corrosion and oxidation on the contacts under the membrane for the buttons

Also keep a eye out for any broken traces around that area too

Thanks for the advice. Will fixing any of that require soldering connections? I'm sorry if I don't sound educated, I haven't worked extensively with the newer Xbox controllers.

Good question!

If there are broken traces that will need soldering but if the gold part is corroded that will just need cleaning with some isopropyl alcohol

Don’t be alarmed but the gold part as it’s meant to have a break In it,any breaks anywhere else will need fixed:-)

@russellrepairs if you don't have any ipa you can use a pencil rubber to clean the contacts too.
