Home button not working after glass install

I installed a new front assembly and resembled it and now the home button is not working. I used the home button and gasket from the original front. It is clicking and nestled in correctly, but I am not getting any response from it. I have disassembled and reassembled and wiped down the connections with rubbing alcohol and still nothing. Any ideas? Do you have to use a new home button when swapping?
