Can't get cold water to work?

I've been trying to wash my clothes in cold water but it doesn't work right. When the knob is on cold it comes out hot and when the knob is on hot it starts out cold but then switched back to hot. We've already checked and the hoses are hooked up right and we even turned off the hot water valve yet it still spat out hot water. I'm not sure how to fix this?

Hi Kat,

Kenmore (or actually Whirlpool) makes a lot of different 80 Series washers, so we'll need to know the model number of yours to be able to give you an accurate answer.
