Why doesn't my MacBook Pro early 2011 turn on and display?

I have a Macbook Pro Early 2011. It doesn't turn on to display when i switch it on using the power button. But when i plug in the charger it turns on automatically but doesn't still display. When I opened the back cover and i plugged it in, the fan started spinning, slowed down a little bit then continued spinning. This happened repeatedly. I put my ear close to the CD-ROM and found out that the same thing was happening but it was more like would start and then stop then start again then stop. I have tried to reset the PRAM and the NVRAM but it doesn't still turn on to display. As all these happens, the sleep light turns on and off repeatedly and the keyboard light does not turn on at all. I read somewhere that i should try disconnecting each of the connectors one by one until i see a different behaviour but it didn't work. I tried disconnecting the battery which seems to have an issue because it doesn't charge even if i leave the laptop plugged in, when i do, the fan starts spinning then stops completely then starts again and this goes on and on. Please what may be the problem 😩. I need the laptop to work ASAP.

This sounds like you have multiple issues!

The first is you likely need a new battery as Lithium Ion battery only have a life of four years and given the systems age it should be on its third battery by now.

The display has two parts to it the backlight which is like a movie projector lighting up the film to present an image on the movie screen. And in this case we have a LCD which is like the film.

From what you are describing you have isolated out which area the issue is. If the screen is glowing in some form we can assume the backlight logic is working but the display is not getting the data to present an image. That points to a logic board issue. This series uses the integrated graphics engine within the Intel chip. That likely means the CPU chip has failed or there is a power issue within the logic board where a capacitor has failed or the system has liquid damage.

You will likely need to take the logic board out to fully inspect it for damage (burnt devices or liquid damage) if you don’t see anything that leaves the CPU as the issue. Thanks for the reply! I plugged the laptop now, when the battery is plugged in and it chimed. It also displayed the usual ash-coloured screen and then it switched off immediately after 2-3 seconds. What might be the issue. Now that i know i need to replace the battery what else might need replacement

@king_erik - So the backlight is working then, just a lack of any image.

Do you have access to an external display which you can plug in? I would give that a try to isolate things down a bit more.

No ☹️ I don't have any access to external display right now. But I'm very sure the screen shouldn't have any problem at all.

@king_erik - In that case the logic board needs repairs or replacement.

Okay then. Thank you very much. I so much appreciate the help.
