2015 iMac 27 camera to USB conversion

I have a 27 inch imac from 2015 and I am thinking to do the DIY studio display conversion with it.

I would like to keep using the same built in camera afterwards. I understand that the camera in this version does not use a USB connector, but is there any known way to turn it into a USB connection?

I would not mind adding some conversion boards or making one with an arduino or something, if necessary.

It would be especially nice to also get the ambient light sensor to work afterwards as well. Do you have any comments?
