Why is my Pismo's display dim?

I have two project Pismo's that I recently brought to working condition. One of the two has a somewhat dimmer (less bright) display than the other, even though the brightness is turned up all the way on both machines. Both have 500MHz processors.

Is the florescent backlight just getting old and worn out? Or, could it be another issue (the inverter)?

If the inverter goes you will barely be able to see the screen. The dimmer one may just be dealing with old age and starting to dim.

Thanks Mayer, That was my gut feeling. I had not noticed something like this before. Two identical machines sitting side by side can really give you some perspective.
