Laptop not rebooting & fans on high speed after battery replacement?

After changing the 2017 MacBook Pro battery with an ifixit replacement battery, the laptop only shows the Apple icon & never completely powers-up even if left for hours to power up, it will not do it. I’ve also noticed that both fans are on high speed during this time.

Has anyone had problems like this?

Someone told me that the laptop is very picky on what battery it likes and aftermarket batteries Do Not Work on these laptops and that is why my laptop is not restarting and the fans are running at high speed because of the battery. Would this be the case for my laptop? Any info or help is appreciated!

I’ve replaced quite a few batteries in this series, so I can tell you a good 3rd party battery do work!

But let’s dig a bit deeper here. Did you follow the guide MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017 배터리 교체 and did you review the connections?

I followed the steps. After everything was in, I checked all the connections & they looked good.

When I powered it on, the loading bar comes up & stops at halfway (where it stays) with the fans running at high speed.

I wonder if maybe the battery is the wrong one & not the one for the 2017 touchbar model with code on the back EMC 3163?

@alberteins64008 - If you see the loading thermometer then you likely have a drive issue.

Do you have access to a second system? Using a USB-C or Thunderbolt cable between them so you can use Target Disk Mode or setup a bootable external drive.
