I can't change brightness after screen replacement

I replaced my broken screen from my phone recently. I can't change the brightness anymore though. It just stays dark all the time. The only exception is when I boot my phone. The brightness goes to max when starting the phone, but as soon as android boots it goes dark again. Since it brightens up to max when booting, the LED backlight seems to work fine?
