Is there any reason why my Xbox series S controller isn’t registering?

I have been using this controller for at least 2 years now and I’ve gone to a recent problem where I turn on the controller to where it either slowly blinks or it turns on but the buttons don’t register besides my Xbox button or my left stick. Anything I could do before I try to buy a new one or get it repaired?
