Why has my MacBook Pro's screen stopped working?

So, somewhat recently, even with the screen in it's current condition, more than half the screen would function. For context, it has no battery and I have no replacement display because I don't have the money for a replacement, and all of a sudden, the screen shuts down and comes back up with no video. All there is left is a bunch of lines now cut off by a big white stripe separating the two parts- the former functioning screen from the actual broken part. I'm always careful with the computer and make sure not to drop the thing, so I'm unsure of what it could be. If you can help me, thanks and hopefully it isn't anything major.

Sadly the display will need replacing. The cause is likely from a heavy object pressed on the lid causing the brittle back glass to fracture. Just like a window the crack can grow causing the glass to segment it’s self. The problem we have here is the metal oxide traces which pass across the glass are severed so the area is not getting the needed signals.

Finding the needed part is getting hard as they are no longer being made and many had issues with the antiglare which your screen also has.

If you can get a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter you can use a TV or display instead that’s the cheapest way but now you have a desktop type of setup.
