While taking my Phone apart and removing the motherboard a small gold part that has what looks like a hole for a screw and also has 2 contact points fell off the motherboard and i havnt got a clue where it goes

It's this little guy! It is a grounding finger for the rear facing camera, and the link should show you exactly where it goes.

That part is placed at the top left screw hole of the Logic Board, where the Logic Board is held down by the screw with the tape covering the screw. The two prongs go behind the rear carmera body.

Does anyone out there have a picture of where this little rubber piece actually goes? This same piece came off when I was doing a replacement and I can't find anything out there to "show" where it goes. Thanks!

Would that part being left out cause the device not to power on?
I left it out by accident and my phone is bricked and lifeless.

Hi
no it shouldn't brick the device as mentioned by Jake above it goes between the motherboard and the screw that fastens the motherboard to the case
the little rubber piece sits at the top of the motherboard and prevents the LCD/digitizer cables from being damaged by the board
Please recheck all connections especially the battery connection as this sometimes isn't seated properly preventing the device from powering up
