After Touch ID was removed, I cannot get it to click anymore
I have damaged my macbook pro, replaced the upper case section (moved every piece over) and my touch id will not click. I cannot figure out what I did wrong. Touch ID itself will work, but the button is not clicking, so I cannot turn my macbook on without plugging it in. What can I do to fix this?

When you transferred the button assembly over could you’ve damaged it? The small ribbon cable can be damaged.

Functionally the Touch ID does work, if I plug the Mac in and turn it on, I can unlock it with Touch ID, it’s just laying flat to the keyboard and I can’t power it on and off without plugging it in

@pqnzershremd - I get the issue is strictly the power aspect. The power button has two pieces the ID part and just above it is the small blister power switch which has a tiny ribbon cable which can get snagged which then causes the button not to work.

I don’t believe I damaged any of the ribbon cables, I made sure to be very careful with both the cable that runs from the keyboard to the button and the button to the logic board.

@pqnzershremd - Then you’ll need to find some help locally, as the button assembly is bonded to the logic board so you can’t replace it without breaking the TouchID function.
