Chimes, black screen (backlight on), no data to USB ports

Hello!

I have this iMac 2011 A1312 2429. I was given this to reinstall Sonoma onto as it was acting up. It worked fine until I brought it home. First time I turned it on, it got to the boot menu, I selected the internal drive then the screen completely glitched out, lines going across. Now whenever I turn it on, it chimes, the backlight comes on, but no grey screen, no boot menu, doesn't boot to Mac OS, and no data is going to USB devices but they are getting power. I took the screen off, checked the battery and it was at 2.8v so I replaced with a new one (3.308v). It got to the boot menu, I powered it off, and now it does the same thing again. I've not been able to replicate it working anymore. All 4 diagnostic LEDs are on. Not sure what to try now. Any ideas?

I think it may be GPU issue but not sure.

Are you able to enter Safe Mode? Restart your system and press the Shift (⇧) key from a USB wired keyboard. Are you able to get that far?

Unfortunately nothing happens! My keyboard gets power but because the RGB is off it means it's not communicated with the Mac. I've tried all USB ports and different Keyboards. I also noticed the fans slowly start ramping up, if I leave it for about 10 minutes the fans will be at 100%. Do you think it could be a GPU fault or something else?

@yotoprules - The fan ramp up is telling you SMC has encountered a fault which pushed it into CPU Safe Mode. Sadly this is a logic board issue. It might be something simple and it could also be a failed AMD Radeon GPU. This series was designed in 2009! At the time graphics was not pushing the limits of the hardware but within a few short years people were pushing this system (as well as other systems with this GPU) burning them out. Often playing heavy graphical games or image manipulation. Once the chip has overheated it doesn’t take much to push it over.

@dan that's a shame. I took everything apart, replaced paste, I heated up the GPU with my hot air station for a few mins, put it together, now when I press the power button, the fans spin for a quarter of a second and the machine shuts off. Looking like this is a parts machine then. Thanks anyway.
