What is the maximum ram upgrade for A1342?

What is the maximum RAM upgrade for MacBook A1342? Is it true that it handles only 4 GB (2x2 GB)?

I installed 8gb ram and works just fine and put in 1tb hard drive also working fine

since my last post my macbook 7.1 failed with a dodgy logic board and as it was under warranty i exchanged it for macbook pro 9.2 and i replaced ram with 16gb and its running 1 tb hard drive but saving to replace with 1tb ssd drive

  • A Mac will utilise interleaving if both sticks are the same but they can be any mixture of 1,2 or 4

  • The above is still true for the 2.26 but the 2.4 now supports 16GB
  • On the 2.4 *Apple officially supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM, but third-parties have determined that it actually supports 8 GB of RAM running Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" and 16 GB of RAM running OS X 10.7.5 "Lion" or higher and the latest EFI update.

So for an A1342, model identifier 6,1. Processor 2.26, can I do 2x8 gb for a max of 16 gb too??

Do you think upgrading one stick to 4gb and the other 2gb (total 6gb) will work? Mine is running with 4gb (2x2gb) right now. A1342 running 10.12. Thank you.

@abitarroza yes, you can use a 2 & 4 Gb sticks and it will work, just makes sure they are both

According to this site, with the latest EFI update, which is included with App store updates typically (and verified on this mid-2010 MacBook), with Lion or higher it can use 16GB!

No, for some reason that I can't remember, I went with 8gb.

Hi, 8gb work fine on my mac.

I have buy corsair and crucial and not work..

I buy Kingston and non work perfectly! After install download memtest Open terminal and test it.

seems that at one time for macbook Late 2009 A1342 used 12GB. One 8GB and One 4GB, it ran hot all the time and curdled the rubber under the bottom panel. But it was nice, also had 16GB Macbook A1342, 2010, 7 so they were each comparable, yet….the rubber almost turned into legs underside, it burned out after year.
