Why is my New 3DS XL always have blinking red lights?

I have a new 3DS XL and recently, I accidentally dropped it on the carpet. After opening it up to check its state, I have been having blinking red battery light. Having said that, the device can be played for hours. Tried to charge it but, while it does, the battery light only changes to continuous red and the orange charge light does not turn off to show battery is fully charged.

I read many posts on potentially similar issues. I tried to recalibrate the battery to see if it would resolve the issue but it didn’t work.

I also got a new battery but the situation remains the same so, it sounds like a hardware issue (?)

Any help would be appreciated.
