For this reason, it’s important for it to function correctly. This guide will walk you through the process of replacing the mass air flow sensor from start to finish.

Disconnect the battery terminals by first loosening them with a 10 mm wrench.
Always remove the negative terminal first to prevent shorting to ground and possibly causing shock or even a fire.
Make sure the car is off and the the key is out of the ignition.

Squeeze the clip on the top side of the wiring connector and pull out to remove it.
Do not touch the connections with your fingers, it may bend the needles and cause malfunction.

With a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two bolts that hold the sensor in place.
Pull the sensor up slowly to take it out of its casing

With a cloth towel, clean the surface from any dirt or oil.
Try not to have anything fall into the opening where the sensor is positioned.

Insert the new sensor and secure it down using the Philips screwdriver.

Connect the wiring harness back on the sensor.
