Pinch the plastic cover while applying force equally. The cover plate should come off pretty easily.

Note the set of clips on the long side of the cover. Pinching in at those points will allow the cover to come right off.

After removing the plastic cap, remove the screw. With the keyboard lying on its face, unlock the cable connector by pulling its black plastic locking strip upwards. Then, ease out the connection cable to the keyboard foil (this can be done by inserting a strong pin under the cable and wedging it upwards).

After that, you can push the whole inside in the direction of the power button and out of the keyboard frame.

Reassamble the other way around: When pushing the inlay back into the frame, make sure the plastic cable to the foils is on the correct side.
The flexible circuit connector stumped me for a bit. Put a bit of pressure at the edges towards the top of the board. It then pops up 1 mm or so. The flex/foil circuit might slide out at this point, but mine seemed a bit sticky.

Be careful with the connection cable while pushing the assembly out of the keyboard!
I have a frozen battery cap that actually broke one of my Kershaw tools (a flat edge extension tool on one of their knives), snapped the %#*@ thing off. Now that's tight. I have used WD-40, Ronsonol fuel, and sheer twisting my best screw drivers but all I've done is tear apart the screw nick on the battery cap. I've used this tutorial to take it apart (carefully!) and been able to pull out the second battery which had white corrosion on the positive end.
But I can't reach the number one battery which is frozen in there. I've sprayed WD-40 in and am patiently waiting for it to work its way down to the connection. But I have no idea how to get that battery out. I can't get a screw in there to drill it in to the battery. I have no idea what the next step is. Anybody have an idea?

I had two corroded batteries firmly welded into the keyboard and I thought it was a goner. I used these instructions to remove the circuit board and give me access to both ends of the battery. A lot of brute force later, both batteries were removed and everything reassembled. Another $70 saved!!!

Similar to Colin’s issue, got at least one battery out, going to drill out the old cap that just won’t come off, then get the last battery out and clean it up and put on a new cap.

My keyboard was "eating” the batteries, I got tired to change it every 2 weeks, so I connected a USB cable to battery connection and I'm powering now via cable with a iphone charger :)
A Dremel is not required. I was able to push firmly on both sides of the plastic cover and it flexed enough for me to get a small flat blade screwdriver in to open it the rest of the way.

Use caution. I had to apply a lot of squeezing pressure to get the cover to come loose and when it did it flipped in my fingers and those pointy little clips stabbed into my thumb. Not pleasant. I suggest using just enough pressure to allow you to use a tool to pry the cover loose.
