To begin, open the the battery hatch on the right side of the camera, relative to the LCD screen. The battery hatch is the larger of the two. To open, simply slide the black button in the direction of the arrow next to it and the hatch will pop open.

Now that the hatch is open, you should be able to see the battery. To take out the old battery, just push down on it and then it will slightly eject itself, making it possible for you to grab with your finger tips.
At this point, this battery cannot be used again, be sure to dispose of it in a proper manner.
