Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer

Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

Turn the computer upside down on a flat surface.

Loosen the five captive screws.

Loosen the two inset captive screws.

Starting under the display, insert a case removal tool and lift the bottom cover of the computer.

Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.

Remove the five Torx T8 2.5×4.0 screws.

Rotate the top of the battery upward, and then lift the battery out of the computer.
