Grab hold of the front and back of the left side of the lid backing.
Face the printer towards you and push the lip of the lid back towards the lid hinges.
You may need to apply a lot of pressure to the lid. You will hear two clicks when the hinge releases.

Peel the white backing away gently.
There will be a layer of foam glued to the bottom of the white lid backing.
