Place your fingers under the edges of the smaller circle, then slowly lift the head.
Keep a hose close by to make it easier to clean the basket.

Twist the head counter clockwise to remove the sprinkler head from the neck, exposing the basket.

If working with two people, use one hand to hold the base of the neck so the sprinkler doesn't fall back into the body of the sprinkler.
If working by yourself, slowly release the neck back down. It is still retrievable by twisting the head back on and repeating the process in step 2.
