How to assign devices with a CSV file in Mosyle

소개

While there are a few different ways to assign devices to users in Mosyle, the best way to assign devices to a specific group of users is through Mosyle's Spreadsheet Assignment. If you already have your devices registered in Mosyle, then all you should need is the device's serial number and the user's User ID. You will also need Mosyle's CSV template.

To start you'll need to get the CSV file from Mosyle's website. Go to My School > Device Assignment > Spreadsheet Assignment.
Under the section that says Download the template, and click Download CSV

Once the CSV file is downloaded open it in your spreadsheet program of choice.
The CSV will look something like this, but once we start entering user data you can delete the bottom most row.

Delete the cells that contain SERIAL_NUMBER_SAMPLE, USER_ID_SAMPLE, and CART_NAME.
Enter the device's serial number in the bottom row first column.
Enter either the User's ID or the Cart name in there respective column's. .
At least one of these need to be filled. Cart Name is optional as long as you have the User ID.

Once all your data is entered save the spreadsheet as a CSV file and upload the file to Mosyle by clicking Select File on the Spreadsheet Assignment page, and select your CSV file.
It will take Mosyle a bit to process your file. Any errors in user data will be reported once your file is finished uploading.
