When full, replace the vacuum bag. The Heritage I uses the Style No. 2 bag. This bag has on oval opening.

From the factory this vacuum uses the style number 2 bag with an oval opening.

If the filter bas was not firmly installed debris can escape into the exterior bag.

The bad connector hangs from a strap at the top of the exterior bag.

There is a small ridge that the cardboard hooks on top of.

There is a ridge on the bottom similar to the top of the plastic connector.

The opening on the new bag with face towards the front of the vacuum.

With the bottom of the filter bag inside of the external bag, but the plastic connector to you and hook the bottom of the opening.

Check that the bag is connected on the top and bottom of the oval plastic connector.

Plug in and turn on the vacuum. You will be able to tell from the sound if the bag is secure.
