This guide describes how to replace the control board for the LG 27UK850-W monitor. It takes about an hour and a half, with the bulk of the time and difficulty being opening up the plastic monitor housing.

Next, pry open the plastic case. This is by far the hardest part and takes about an hour when done carefully. The bottom edge is the easiest. Stick a metal spludger in the seam between the black and white plastic. Bend the spludger handle down so that the white plastic piece is forced outwards.

Work your way across the bottom of the monitor. There are 10 clips in total that need to be popped out.

Now comes the hard part. The remaining three edges are fastened with inward-facing clips, which means they can only be opened by pulling the tabs towards the edge of the monitor.

Due to the shape of the tabs, each one is easier to open from one side than the other.

For the tabs that run along the sides of the monitor, it's easier to pry them back if approached from the bottom of the monitor.

For the top of the monitor, it's easier to pry the tabs on the left half of the monitor if approached from the left. It's easier to pry the tabs on the right half of the monitor if approached from the right.

Is it possible to re-connect / solder the usb-c port back onto the board? My usb-c port disconnected from the control board.
I am not sure. I have never disassembled the control board housing to see how the USB-C port is attached.

I have a scratched screen. Do you know if the screen has a separate film? Would this disassembly allow me to access the screen and determine which replacement to get?
