For damaged keys, start by having a prying tool handy.

Start by pushing a plastic opening tool gently under the key.
Do not force the plastic opening tool as this will damage the keyboard mechanisms.

Gently pull upwards with the prying tool until the key comes off.
Use your hand to remove the key once the key is fully released.
