If your battery keeps dying then refer to this short and easy guide on how to remove and replace your battery. The device components are delicate so be sure to take care when opening the device. Recommended for this guide are plastic opening tools and a phillips screwdriver. The most difficult part of this guide is locating all of the screws and physically opening the back panel of the remote.

Remove the single 6 mm Phillips #0 screw located beneath the sticker near the USB charging port.

Use a plastic opening tool to release tabs that hold the front panel and back panel together. There are three tabs on each side of the device that need to separate for the device to open.

The battery is still connected to the device via wiring. To free the battery completely, remove the dark plastic piece from the slot with the plastic opening tool. Slowly rotate the dark plastic piece and the battery clockwise until then can be removed from underneath the small circuit board with the USB port.
The picture only shows the rather obvious step of removing the white connector. The instructions on how to remove the battery container are really poorly explained.

Use the plastic opening tool to separate the battery from the case.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Step 6 (disassembly and re-assembly) Only thing to point out is that the PCB on the bottom of the battery holder twists into the holder (small plastic holding feature). This is important to get proper alignment of the Micro-USB connector). When removing the battery holder make sure the PCB pops out of the snap that is on the opposite side from the screw that holds the Micro-USB connector. This avoids putting too much strain on the leads of that PCB.
Wish I read the comments before I did the work - came close to snapping the leads. To anyone trying this, the battery holder is not attached to that small pcb but rather there are small notches that hold the battery case in place. Knowing that will allow you to apply the right pressure in the right places to move it away from the PCB.

Battery model please
Most disappointed with Logitech why did they stop having the CD when you bought a harmony made installing the software much easier for us older folks….Radcliffe
Thanks! The the guide. Very helpful.
The image where the remote face and back is side to side…..you may have two leads from the base (battery end) so it’ll open up end to end, not folded to the side. The main thing is getting the top and bottom separated, but don’t pull them apart, take your time and see what yours does.
Also, needle nose plyers carefully used will pull out the PCB connection and battery connection easily, forget any pry tool approach with whatever battery kit you buy.
Last note, very important. If you are pulling the battery for the first time, watch the solder ends to the base of the battery cover. Don’t break those. The cover will not remove in all cases, some have a direct solder. You might have to gently lift it up enough to slide the battery out but you have to slide a dull flat pry tool to break the tape loose from the battery and the case.
Good luck, it’s do-able but it’s not a 10 minute job by any means.
Thanks for this helpful guide! My Harmony Ultimate One purchased used without cradle and exhibits these symptoms. I suspect a bad battery, but wanted to post here before spending $20 for a battery.
1. On USB power (not PC), very short flash of all white then “Harmony®” briefly, then myharmony.com image is displayed. Shutting off then causes the white flash, Harmony® and myharmony.com sequence.
2. Connect USB to Windows laptop, off button causes the white flash, Harmony® and myharmony.com sequence again. Launch and login to MyHarmony app. Click on Harmony Ultimate One icon – synching popup shows progress, then goes away. Click on Sync button prompts a “Sync in progress” screen. “Retrieving your device & activity settings” and progress indicator stalls at 33% complete…wait for 30 minutes, “low battery” screen appeared briefly, then the white screen flashes, Harmony® screen is displayed.
3. Removed USB cable from PC to charging power supply and left overnight to charge. No change on remote display.
Anyone else got a battery model? Only link has one that’s out of stock, and I can’t source anything in Australia.
What is the function of second small socket connected to mother board from the back cover of the battery. It has a red and black cable. Mine came off when I was trying to pry the battery open
This was super helpful!
Same instructions and battery for the Harmony Ultimate Home remote?

Thanks to this, I could replace the battery.
Strangely, after restart, the touch screen did not work, keys: yes (off+menu to reset).
No way with fac reset or other tricks. Since all important parts are on one side of the body, I am very sure that I have not destroyed anything. Now I am left with pretty useless thing. Too bad.
Entferne die einzige 6mm Phillips 0 Schraube, welche sich hinter dem Sticker in der Nähe des USB Ladeports befindet.
