To take apart the strap lock, take the black ball cap and turn it counterclockwise.
After you unscrew the ball cap, pull on the other side of the locking mechanism (opposite to the ball cap) to remove the spring and bar.
Unlock your strap lock from the guitar before attempting this step.

You should have these two parts removed from the rest of the lock mechanism.
If you do not have the spring or your spring is broken, you can get the spring described in the conclusion.
In a pinch: a spring from some pens, cut to length, can act as the spring in your strap lock.

To put on the spring, insert it onto the bar.
If your strap lock was not locking even though it had the spring, you can increase your springs effectiveness by stretching it out a moderate amount.

Once the spring is on, reassemble your strap lock by inserting the locking mechanism into the underside of the housing.
Then, screw back on the ball cap.
