On the bottom of the device handle, you will find a button on the left side. Press and hold this button.

While holding the button, slide the battery out of the device.
If the battery needs replacing, you can find one on the Shark website.

On the body of the device you will find there is a large grey button on the side of the dust cup.
Pressing this button will release the dust cup from the body of the device.
Empty the dust cup if the device has already been in use.

Under the dust cup you will find that there is a white pre-motor filter. Remove this filter.

You will find the post-motor filter in the device under where the dust cup was.
The post-motor filter can be easily removed now.
Clean the filter with soap and water.
Examine your filter for any damage, and if you find any you can buy a replacement on the Shark website.
