Introduction
Sometimes you'll have an out-of-warranty video card that is's now basically now a paper-weightpaperweight.
If you were going to throw it out anyway and, you have an oven and common-sense you have a chance ofcan try your luck at temporarily repairing the card/chip by re-flowing the solder or heating—heating and reseating the bumpsmetal balls under the Surface-mount chipdie. All you need is an oven and some good luck.
Obviously, as with any guide that involves an oven, you might burn your house down orhands, burn your hands orhouse down, inhale toxic fumes or whatever, and other hazards, so please don't do anything that you don't feel're not comfortable doing.
However, if you're confident and the warnings don't scarepotential of a repaired card is worth it to you, continue through the guide.
(Please note that the guide has been edited by a few people over the years - some parts are not my original writing!)
Cheers,
