[title] Solder new socket
[* black] When new SIM-socket arrives,You can optionally add solder to the pins first. I had a socket that did not solder well due to oxidization. Especiallybefore installing the eightnew SIM socket. The 8 small signal pins must have an especially good connection.
[* red] The Socket has eightsocket will have 8 signal pins aton the card-inserting side, several pads for shieldshielding, and two pads at the rear side for SIM-insertedinserted SIM detection. (Red circle in all images indicates the location)
[* green] Place the new socket on the board and solder at one shield edge first to make a stable positionthe socket more stable.
[* black] Now solderSolder the eight signal pins at PCB board edge. Use steady hand or somethingTry to be as steady your handas you can when soldering. If you happen to bridge some pins DO NOT PANIC, usepins, do not panic. Use a solder wick to remove additional solder.
[* black] Use a magnifying glass or microscope if necessary. I used both because theThe contact area of the signal pads is tiny andtiny, so even if it looks ok, itthey look like they are touching the PCB board, they might not have contact to the PCBactually be touching.
[* blackicon_caution] Before soldering all shield pads, check if system is working ! I hadworking! Otherwise you might have to re-solder the socket three times because of corroded pinsagain.
[* black] OneYou can test the device OPEN (but withwhile it is open, but the PCB board and the battery have to be in place)place. You will be able to see if 3G works. Beware that WiFi isworks but WIFI will be bad because nothe antenna (Antenna is on the back cover)cover which will be removed at the time.
