[* black] Using thered] Using a Phillips #00, transfer#00 screwdriver, remove the four metal spacers to(pegs) from the old HDD and install them in the same places on your new HDD.
[* black] Reconnect the two SATA cables to the new hard drive.

[* icon_note] If you find that the new HDD is a bit loosethinner than the old one, you can undomay need to unscrew the spacers a little throughfew turns to prevent the holes in the plate (you know, the screws you weren't supposed to touch in step two)drive from rattling around.
[* icon_note] HDD tip: I recommend usingTo save power and reduce waste heat, use a HDD with variable RPM due to heat and power savings. The price bump might cost more than it saves though. Research the prices in your area"green" (power-saving) hard drive or a low-speed (5400 RPM) drive.
[* icon_reminder] Be sure to format your new HDD fromusing the Airport toolsUtility when you are done and the Time Capsule is reassembled.
[* black] It is possible to test run the unit before it is fully reassembled. However IIf you do not recommendso, reconnect the fan and replace the metal shield / fan assembly (without installing the screws) before turning it dueon to the risk of over heating or you getting anprevent electrical shock from the device if you are not careful or you can close the bottom without rescrewing itand overheating.
