This guide shows you how to remove the optical drive from the laptop

Flip laptop over and locate the battery release button
Push release button to the left to release battery and gently pull battery from the laptop

With the bottom of the laptop facing up and the front toward you locate and loosen the M2.5×9.0 captive screw holding the optical drive into the laptop.
Insert a flat-bladed screwdriver or similar tool into the optical drive tab access hole and press the tab to the left to release the optical drive from the computer
The optical drive will unlock and pop out of the side of the laptop. You are now able to temove the optical drive from the laptop.
