I'm not sure how my son did it, but he did! He cracked his iPhone 5 screen and damaged the LCD along with it. So I decided since it was outside of warranty and no longer under contract with our phone company, I should just repair it myself. It beats having to buy a new phone and go with another 2 year contract with our phone company.

나의 수리

I picked up the package almost a week after it arrived because I was busy at work and haven't had the time to stop by the office I have my stuff shipped to. The screen was awesome and arrived as advertised so no problems there. I also ended up working on this project at home on my son's study desk because it was the only clean surface I had at the moment.

The repair was EASY! Given the fact that i'm an IT and I have done numerous repairs in the past. This repair should be a piece of cake for anyone who is at least a bit tech savvy. If you don't know anything about what you're doing when it comes to these repairs, I suggest you read up here on iFixit or go with a professional. Otherwise if you're feeling adventurous and lucky, you can use this guide: iPhone 5 LCD and Digitizer Replacement

My repair was smooth and only took 5 minutes. Again, I am an experienced IT so depending on your experience, these repairs might take longer.

I took a few pictures but I don't have my camera with me so i'll edit this post and upload them later. I'm an IT, not a photographer so hopefully the D3200 did a good job for me with those photos.

내 조언

I would recommend you fork out the extra cost for the complete iPhone 5 Display Assembly otherwise you'll be spending extra time removing other parts from your old screen and putting it on the replacement. Be patient, especially if your fingers are as large as mine.

Also, if your glass is cracked as bad as my son's you might have a bit of a problem with the suction tool because it doesn't hold well due to the gaps in the crack that let air bubbles slide through. I was lucky enough to have other smaller suctions in my toolbox that covered enough space to lift.

The screws are TINY so it helps to have a magnetic bit that at least helps you hang on to them or set them back into their places when your closing the repair because we all know fat fingers like mine aren't exactly helpful especially in tight spaces.
