My mother shattered her iPhone 5s screen in a freak accident one evening. She eventually bought a brand-new 6s, but she planned to give the older one to my sister. I decided to take a crack at it (pun definitely intended), with previous repairs for fellow high-school students having been successful.

The repair went very smoothly. Having splurged the extra $20-something, I did not have to go through the painful process of transferring the earpiece speaker and front facing camera assembly to the new screen, which I knew from a previous repair on an iPhone 5s. As a result, I cut the repair time in half. The worst part had to be reconnecting the Touch ID cable and replacing the bracket, because boy, are those things fidgety.
Interestingly enough, I had two girls from the school yearbook on the scene taking photos. They had found out about my repair operation and wanted to interview me! That put a bit of pressure on me to do a good job, and it worked. Free advertising, I guess (and maybe a date?).
UPDATE: It turns out that my repair is the dominant story on the Technology spread in our school yearbook!

Please, for the love of Pete, splurge the extra few dollars and get the screen with the front-facing camera pre-installed. It will save you a lot of time and stress. Also, I highly recommend buying the iSclack over using a suction cup, as it makes the opening process much less stressful and allows you to keep the phone open to disconnect the Touch ID cable.
