Since 2009, the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center Help Desk has been teaching residents of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois how to fix their own computers and smart phones. With donations from users and space to house tools and fix computers in the local hackerspace, Makerspace Urbana, the Help Desk has helped over 250 people. We have removed viruses, saved data that wasn't backed up, and repaired hardware, all with the user's participation.
