Thank-you.

I’ve got a flippi V8 and just on a whim decided to save myself some time for tearing it down.

In step 10, those screws hold the motor. The fan blades just slide on and off.

This is for the Flippi v6, but the is the same for the v8. The only difference it’s that there are 2 more screws in step 4 for the turning mechanism.

Importantly several of the parts have a specific difference between left and right. The cradle and the fan housing itself have a small and a large “bearing” for setting fan angle. The logo goes down. If they don’t match the cradle you cannot reassemble the fan. I took mine apart because the fan bearings needed oil.

What kind of oil and where exactly do you apply it? I have a couple of these that are getting noisey

I would also like to know what kind of oil and where exactly to apply it? One of mine is squeaking loud enough that I haven't been using it. Taking it apart for a thorough cleaning did not do the trick.

Thanks!

At the basics it's very simple: Drop of oil each on the bearings. Where are the bearings? The 'caps' on the front and back of the motor held on by machine screws, that trap the fan shaft in place. You want the oil to go onto the bronze colored (it's actually bronze!) bushing held on by those grey zinc caps. For reference, the zinc caps are the bits held on by the two screws in the motor that are left after you've taken the motor out of the plastic housing at the end of the instructions.

I went one step further: I took that screw apart (it's a nut and a screw, use a small channel lock and a screwdriver on the other end), removed the bearing caps and the fan shaft, and soaked the bushings in motor oil. I used 10-30 but whatever works. I put them in a dish and used a vacuum container to help get oil into those bushings, took them out, cleaned them off, reassembled and my partner's fan is super quiet now. (No vacuum sealer/container? Just soak overnight.)

Thank you. The guy on YouTube was sticking screw drivers down the front and not really explaining where the clips were. Even though I have the 10 volt version this got me started. Got a piece of yarn wrapped around the base of the blades. Although it was difficult to disassemble, your instructions were good.

Some additional details. Careful of the little ball bearings which you can see in step 7. They could fall out and get lost. It's kind of hard to put back together as well.

Also, At the end when I put it back together, there was some resistance to the fan moving. I set it horizontal, loosened the screws holding the motor to the casing (seen in step 10), turned the fan on, let it spin so it was happy, turned off and unplugged the fan, then tightened those same screws down and it seems happy.

Good tips. As I mentioned above, re-oiling the sintered bronze bushings is a good idea too.
