It works now. I do not know how it got working. I the original battery back in and went through the charge cycle. Once the original battery claimed to be fully charged I tried powering up the laptop, and the laptop did not turn on. I then put in the new batter and went through the charge cycle(I can't remember how many hours) after this charging the laptop powered up on the battery. And it has been charged up a couple of times and it works.
