don't use hot soldering iron . the female outlet the battery plugs into is very fragile . for no extra money you can buy a battery that has magnetic tools specifically to pick this screw out . if worse comes to worse be certain the screw will come no looser then use tweezers and pick it out . the #1 fear with this technique is DO NOT DROP THE SCREW . I have done this and crawling on my hands and knees till I find it was depressing
i want to say that my problem was it is easy to OVER TIGHTEN the screws holding the bracket over the new power button . the new button will not operate as it is always pressed in so I fixed this by using a drop thread lock then putting the screws in and backing them back out slowly testing the button the whole time till the power button worked . let set over night so the thread lock will dry and bingo it worked . I read many "use paper" and "use rubber band" that is not fixed . I am a believer in the project working not jury rigged .....
buy a equal phone that is perhaps destroyed AND locked . that is how I have replaced many parts I have done what you have done . I now have parts I may never use but ... who knows I just aim for the phones I have extra parts for
i been messing with this for months and finally I figured it out . the button attached to the ribbon cable has to be nearly perfectly placed to the lever as originally it is placed by a robot type machine . there is two holes right and left of this button and two posts on the lever which are to line up . if you had any coffee today forget it as it won't happen . there is a option ... buy the ribbon cable which is attached to the lever . it will cost a couple $'s more but it works and all the duffeses that say "use a piece of paper" or "use a rubber band" ... no do it correctly for appox $5
the new button clicks fine with finger nail but when I put it in the phone it will not click , all it does is bend the middle of the lever . this article helped me but it left me with as many questions as it answered
how to reassemble power lever ? many small parts not addressed by this tutorial . C or average or barely up to par .
