Where I could normally just put the device in sleep mode and vigorously rub the black screen for a few seconds to get it to respond (and lasted for a few hours before having to do this again), after going to iPadOS none of my previous tricks worked for more than a couple minutes before unresponsiveness returned. I finally did a home/power button reboot and this is now the only thing that will resolve the unresponsive screen issue for a few-to-several hours. I’d like to ask how many users here (aside from Mr. Hymn) actually went through with a battery replacement? I’ve been contemplating spending the $99+s/h on this IF it will resolve the issue (my iPad Pro is from 2017 so out of warranty), but I’m afraid of wasting the money if it turns out to be a screen defect (in which case, I’m better off just buying another, used iPad with a SqTrade warranty from eBay, rather than giving Apple $599 for a screen...

I continue to have this issue even after trying several of the fixes here and elsewhere. The only thing I can do is lock the iPad screen and rub it vigorously with the butt of my palm for several seconds. When I unlock, it’s back to working …until the next time it goes unresponsive. That could be 30 mins or a few hours or a day. Hope this poor workaround helps some of you who continue to suffer with this ordeal. I was going to buy the new iPad Pro until I read some buyers having the same issue with that one. I’m so disappointed in Apple. This is the sort of thing one would expect out of an item that costs a third of what an iPad does. Until this is fixed, I can’t imagine throwing anymore money at an Apple tablet.
