One note of caution, beware of surprises. I had a problem with my Macbook Pro last summer and took it to Apple for repair and it turned out to be a settings issue and nothing mechanical but in the discovery process it was gutted and re-assembled. When it developed a fan problem last month I ordered a fan from Ifixit and went through the repair process. After removing the base plate it was then time to remove the fan using a Torx #6 screwdriver here is where the surprise was. Apple had substituted one of the three screws with a different type. Luckily I was able to find a screwdriver that worked.
