I figured I should chime in on this topic. I had a handful of customers bring me these and most of them are the same song and dance. Here are the colors of the wires on the control module. Please keep in mind that all the stray ground wires, including the USB - are all tied together. If you miss any of the other grounds the audio and/or mic will not work. In case you are curious, the strain relief is reusable if you are careful. A pair of pliers and 1/8” drill bit will be helpful. I will literally use my hand to manually “hand drill” the remainder bit of the cable jacket out until it is free enough to pull with pliers. Never use any sort of power drill or actual hand drills as the torque will literally tear these apart at the slightest snag. To get the wire back in, a bit of isopropyl or a very small dab of cooking oil will work, other lubricants may contain solvents that can eat away the jacket over time.
