MOst probably you will need to dissaemble the whole Powerbook to check if the drop caused any disconection of the card or damage to the ribon. Check this
Hi, 1. Screen turns of and then it is dimmed. 2. Do you see the login or is it dimmed? 3. What do you mean suspend forever ... the white sleep led - is it on? 4. Have you tried to connect it to external screen? ======== Try to start it with option key (alt) pressed. - Can you see the disk selection screen? If it is dimmed - try to connect it to external screen - you can see the screen -> most probably LCD problem (backlight or inverter); You can't see it - might be the logic board.
What you can do in OSX is put a system DVD into your drive and start your computer while holding the key "C" - computer will boot from system DVD. (you can also hold the option button and select the DVD) It will show up the language selection etc... and when it is ready for new installation you will see in the bar at the top utilities. Then select "reset password" and follow the instruction : choose the account type in new password and restart the computer. DO NOT CONTINUE installing new system Update: In case you do not have system DVD's there is another option. In case you need it I'll send you how to do it.
