Hi! My name is Joseph Anderson, and I am a Freshmen at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, studying Aerospace Engineering.

I have always loved anything that flies, and have always looked up at the night sky and wondered what was out there. As I grew up, I began learning more and more about space travel and became fascinated by it. I see space travel as the next big leap for humanity, and I want to play a part in that. I want to help put people on Mars and maybe even build a colony there. Aerospace Engineering is the best way for me to do that. Not only do I love everything about the major like math coding and problem-solving, but I also know that I will be able to impact the world with my knowledge when I graduate, and that means everything to me. After college, I want to start my own aerospace company that will push the boundaries in spaceflight capabilities and helps get people to Mars.

I have always liked working with my hands as well, and when I was around 12 or 13, my parents bought me some Traxxas remote control cars, and these are the high-performance r/c cars. They need to be taken care of and sometimes upgraded because they can take a beating when they are used, so I learned how to replace broken parts with new ones, or even upgrade them to better quality parts. I have had to disassemble one of them entirely to replace the chassis, and then put everything back together. Through this experience, I learned how most things work and how to take them apart, as well as learned how to troubleshoot a problem and eventually figure out what was wrong and then replace the broken component. My dad also taught me how to change my oil in my Jeep Wrangler when I first got it.

I also love to play lacrosse, and I play here at Embry-Riddle. When I am not studying or playing lacrosse, I like to hang out with friends and go to the beach. I am from Colorado, so I also love snowboarding and being in the mountains as well as taking my jeep off-roading

I am doing the iFixit Standard project to help me refine my technical writing skills, as I will need them as go through college and eventually graduate. This project will also allow me to give back and help other people as well as help the environment by keeping broken devices out of landfills.
