We have done repairs on iPad 4 using iPad 3 Digitizers and have had no problems. I get my parts from iWholesaleParts.com. They also carry color conversion kits for the iPad. I have made my iPad red.
What about the Bezel. It is not the same but are the screws for the lcd/digitizer in the same spots. Do you have to keep a stock of CDMA and GSM? Are they different. I know the battery, vibrator, cameras, loudspeaker module, charging port, home button and home button flex, are the same.
