If your power IC is dead then you'd have to either replace the entire board or become a robot and solder on a new one. HOWEVER, try this: take out your battery, put it back in, hold both volume down+volume up and plug in a USB cable. If your phone boots into download mode then all is not lost! Here is a new motherboard if you're intent on fixing this phone (provided it is a Sprint Nexus S), or swappa has a phenomenal array of smartphones for cheap. Cheers, tabormeister
If you're trying to cut an HDMI cable and attach an RCA or 3.5 mm audio jack, no, you cannot do that, as HDMI is digital and those are analog. You can however get something like this and this if you're trying to get analog audio out of hdmi.
The headphone jack is connected directly to the motherboard, and there is no way to remove it without soldering (reference: here and here) I've read that getting a very small drill bit (#76) and applying some slight side pressure and flicking out may work. I've also personally had limited success (read: one time) of very carefully and VERY gingerly drilling out the middle of a broken-off headphone jack with a tiny drill bit, then extracting with dentist tools. I'm not suggesting this as the BEST course of action, but it is possible. If you attempt, make sure you have a way to secure things so they don't move about when you're drilling. (A vise with soft pads perhaps) and be careful. Cheers!
After reviewing the applicable teardowns, I see no reason why you couldn't swap drives. That being said, the 15" comes with twice the storage, so I'd recommend just transferring said data to your new Mac. Cheers!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995688 This looks like your best bet, if after thoroughly reading any instructions there and nothing helps you, try posting a question in the q&a for the Nexus 4. This might also help you: http://www.dotkam.com/2013/01/16/backup-and-reset-nexus-4-cracked-and-locked-screen/ Cheers!
I had this same problem. Multiple restores, cleaned and reseated contacts, to no avail. I decided to try downgrading to 3.1.3, and after downloading an ipsw, trying to restore with it and getting an error, I restored to 4.2.1 without issue, bottom working perfectly. I'm not offering this as a tutorial as I'm mainly an Android guy, but it definitely worked for me. Cheers, tabormeister
Side note-you can buy ZIF usb adapters for very cheap on eBay and other places online that would allow you to retrieve the files from your iPod drive, without an iPod.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEotRhChS... One click unbrick. If that doesn't work, this. It's more complicated but will render your phone literally and completely unbrickable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277056&... Cheers!
Easy answer: Macs don't do Blu-ray, unless you're willing to run bootcamp. That being said, if your drive is IDE, switching the connectors won't work unless you decided to do some extensive fancy soldering, as the IDE connector on the back of the optical drive looks like this and the one on the back of an IDE 2.5" hard drive looks like this THAT being said, if you DO have a SATA model, (it looks from a quick google like mid 2007 might be) You could probably just pop in a Blu-ray drive and run bootcamp. Here's what a Sata connector looks like. Cheers!
This step needs a BIG CAVEAT to not insert the pick far enough to damage the home button/touch ID cable, as it is DIRECTLY above where you’re directing people to insert the pick. I just ruined a ribbon cable by following this guide too closely.
Regarding step 6... I can not fully understand how the cd player is connected to the rest of the frame .
Ahh!
It doesn't have a wire or anything, there's a connector that plugs right in when you push the unit in, when you pull it out it...well, it pulls right out. no need to disconnect anything but the screws, just pull it out.
Be extra 110% sure to update the BIOS on that thing ASAP to keep it from happening again! The dying motherboard is a problem that plagues _all_ AMD-based HP dvx000's that haven't had their BIOS updated. Go to HP's site, enter your full model number (e.g. dv6258se - check the white sticker on the bottom), and look for a BIOS update. That'll help to prevent the problem in the future, but be sure to keep the heat sink clean!
Oh dude, definitely did that already 1st thing after I put it back together. I just checked again to be extra sure.
and as for the heatsink...it's got Arctic MX-2 on it, so I don't see how it could be overheating, though it does generally run in the upper 70's (laptop cooling fans I blame).

What exactly do you mean? ...wire?
also, which step?
Home Premium. it's decent with service pack 2.
I will eventually, but Vista is acceptable for now.
No need, sir! the laptop again lives. I might update the teardown with pictures of it running.

Oh I forgot to mention I got a new motherboard for 100 and it's working again:)
It's incredible how modern this board looks, despite its being so dated.
